What Our Educators Are Saying
As someone who has only recently begun calling herself a sex educator, SEA has been a boon. Members are open with their experiences, generous with their knowledge, and brilliant as all get-out. I've enjoyed soaking up their wisdom but, more than that, I've felt lucky to be welcomed into their community.
- Steph Auteri, Guerrilla Sex Ed, New Jersey
Having early, ongoing conversations about sex protects your child’s innocence; yet parents often think that the opposite is true. As members of the Sex Education Alliance, we strategize and share ideas about how best to get these messages out to our communities. I am excited to be a member of this supportive and dynamic community of sexuality education professionals.
- Rowena Thomas, AmazingMe, Sydney, AUS
As a sexuality professional who has just recently launched an LLC, I find the collective learning and networking that comes with SEA membership to be invaluable. Our community has been a great place to learn about new professional opportunities, have access to compelling workshops, and meet colleagues that are sharing their experiences and expertise.
- Lauren Barineau, MPH, CHES, Talk More, Georgia
As a private sexual health educator for the past 20 years, I was used to working in relative isolation knowing that very few in geographic proximity to me “do what I do”. But I didn’t know what I was missing until I joined SEA. In the short time I’ve been a member, SEA has already given me the opportunity to connect with, share experiences with and learn from incredibly skilled and accomplished sexuality education professionals. I’m so grateful and honoured to be part of such a unique yet diverse group.
- Saleema Noon (she/her), Saleema Noon Sexual Health Educators, Vancouver, BC, Canada
I feel like I'm with "my people"! The Sex Education Alliance is valuable to me because it engages amazing and passionate sex educators in sharing ideas and resources, challenges and successes. We discuss strategies to improve the ways we do the vitally important work of sex education for all!
- Wendy L. Sellers, RN, MA, CSE, (she/her), Puberty: The Wonder Years, Michigan, USA
As someone whose with an independent, non-affiliated sex education practice, the SEA is an indispensible resource. Rather than simply wondering to myself if something is a good idea, if a particular concept is important, or if I am communicating something effectively - I can turn to other SEA members! It is so wonderful to be part of such a positive and validating group of professionals.
